European water utility

A water utility in Europe wanted to understand what could be done to use its extensive property portfolio of over 1,000 sites to generate clean energy for its own consumption.  We defined the regulatory environments which would prevent or support project development and quickly completed a high level review taking into account country constraints and resource maps.  This was done using our advanced geographic information systems (GIS) allied to a number of country-specific constraints such as land designations and permitting restrictions.  Of the entire land portfolio of over 1,000 sites less than a hundred were worth considering further, and a total of 30 were identified as being the leading contenders.  By eliminating the vast majority of ‘no-hoper’ sites quickly and at modest cost, the real commercial opportunities were quickly brought into focus for further consideration.
